## Description

Forest City Dance Circle is a vibrant volunteer-led community folk-dance collective based in Rockford, Illinois. Dedicated to celebrating folklore, heritage, and a sense of belonging, this collective engages participants through circular dances, live music, and storytelling. Their mission centers around inclusivity, welcoming individuals of all ages and abilities, with no prior experience or special attire required.

The collective offers a variety of programs including hands-on workshops, performances at local festivals, libraries, and senior centers, as well as school residencies. They specifically highlight the Hexentanz, a traditional witches' dance from German folklore, which embodies the transition from winter to spring. This dance not only preserves cultural heritage but also fosters community spirit and empowerment.

Forest City Dance Circle emphasizes accessibility with sliding-scale fees and free public events, inviting all to participate in the magic of communal dance. Whether you're looking to dance, volunteer, or simply enjoy a performance, there’s a place for everyone in the circle.
