## Description

**Forests & Finance** is a vital resource dedicated to assessing the financial sectors' impact on deforestation, particularly in Southeast Asia, Central and West Africa, and parts of South America. The organization scrutinizes the funding provided to over 300 companies involved in forest-risk sectors, including beef, soy, palm oil, pulp and paper, rubber, and tropical timber. Since 2016, banks have invested over $307 billion into these industries, which contribute significantly to tropical deforestation.

Forests & Finance also offers insightful data tools that allow users to analyze financial flows related to forest-risk commodities and assess how banks and investors adhere to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) policies. Their latest initiative includes a beta dataset focusing on mining companies' financing and its correlation with environmental impact. Through detailed reports, case studies, and policy evaluations, Forests & Finance aims to enhance transparency and promote sustainable practices within the financial sector to protect vital ecosystems.
