## Description

Formosa Files is a podcast and publishing project dedicated to telling the history of Taiwan through engaging stories, interviews, and cultural topics. Sponsored by the Frank C. Chen Foundation, the podcast is hosted by John Ross, an author and co-founder of Camphor Press, and Eryk Michael Smith, a writer, broadcaster, and journalist. Both hosts have lived in Taiwan for more than 20 years, bringing a long-standing connection to the island to their discussions.

The podcast’s extensive archive includes hundreds of episodes across six seasons, covering Taiwan’s history from different periods and perspectives. Topics range from Qing dynasty rule and Japanese colonial history to the island’s experience since 1949, as well as art, food, sport, and life in the 1990s. Formosa Files also features expert interviews and personal histories, including accounts of migration and family heritage. Listeners can explore episodes through its website and follow the show on platforms including Apple Podcasts and Spotify, or through RSS and other podcast players.
