## Description

Förskolan Karlsson is a non-profit parent cooperative preschool on Duvnäsgatan in Södermalm, Stockholm. Established in 1990, it cares for 19 children in two mixed-age groups, with activities adapted for younger and older children. The preschool emphasizes a safe, personal environment where children learn through play, shared experiences and relationships across ages.

Its team includes two preschool teachers, two childcare workers, kitchen staff and a principal, providing a reported ratio of 4.5 children per full-time-equivalent staff member. The 250-square-metre premises include several activity rooms, a separate dining room and space for rest and play. The preschool also describes a protected courtyard as part of its setting.

Sustainability guides its approach, including chemical-conscious practices aligned with Stockholm City guidelines and predominantly organic, vegetarian meals. Any surplus is reinvested in the operation. Families can take part in cooperative life and influence the preschool through ideas, events and board work. The Tyra app supports communication with staff, practical arrangements and documentation of each child’s learning and development.
