## Description

Friends of the Forest Preserves is a nonprofit organization that brings people together to protect, promote, and care for the forest preserves in Cook County, Illinois. Its mission is to help land, water, and wildlife thrive while ensuring that people can enjoy healthy, welcoming natural spaces. The organization works toward inclusive access to nature and stewardship of the preserves for current and future generations.

Its conservation efforts include grassroots advocacy, hands-on habitat restoration, and job training through its Conservation Corps programs for adults and high school students. The organization also offers volunteer opportunities, including ecological restoration and corporate team-building days, and invites the community to become members or support its work through donations.

To help people connect with nature, Friends of the Forest Preserves hosts wellness activities, volunteer workdays, fundraisers, and other events. Its website also shares information about local plants and wildlife, recreational activities, and ways to explore the preserves, including hiking, fishing, biking, skiing, and snowshoeing.
