## Description

Foyle Young Poets is a prestigious literary initiative designed to nurture and celebrate the talents of budding poets aged 11-17. Launched in 1998, it has become the largest competition of its kind, attracting over 6,800 young entrants globally each year. The award recognizes the creative voices of young writers and provides them with invaluable opportunities to advance their literary careers. Under the expert guidance of noted poets, including this year’s judges Vanessa Kisuule and Jack Underwood, participants can submit poems of 40 lines or fewer, with entries open until July 31, 2024.

Winners receive exciting prizes, including membership in The Poetry Society, mentorship opportunities, and participation in writing workshops. Past winners have achieved impressive recognition, often going on to publish with renowned publishers like Faber & Faber and winning distinguished literary awards. Foyle Young Poets remains free to enter, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity for aspiring poets, making it a transformative experience for young literary talents across the UK and beyond.
