## Description

Fracta Japan is a technology company focused on helping protect essential infrastructure through artificial intelligence and machine learning. Its software uses environmental data to assess the condition of underground pipes, predict deterioration, and display risk levels on maps. These tools support water and gas infrastructure operators as they plan maintenance and work to prevent failures, amid challenges such as aging assets, labor shortages, population decline, and natural disasters.

The company’s work includes deterioration-prediction technology for water pipes and gas pipelines, developed with industry partners, as well as the “±Move” service, which forecasts future water-supply populations. Fracta Japan aims to help infrastructure providers make informed, long-term decisions and safeguard the everyday services communities rely on, including clean water and gas.

The company has also collaborated with gas network operators on algorithms for predicting deterioration in gas service pipes. Its AI-based infrastructure maintenance work received the Prime Minister’s Award at the eighth Infrastructure Maintenance Awards.
