FRDC, the Fisheries Research and Development Corporation, is a leading organization dedicated to planning and investing in fisheries research and development (R&D). Our goal is to ensure the ongoing sustainability of both aquatic sectors and ecosystems. As a co-funded partnership between the Australian Government and fisheries and aquaculture sectors, we play a critical role in supporting the fishing and aquaculture industries. Under the Primary Industries Research and Development Act 1989, FRDC operates as a statutory corporation and is accountable to the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries, and Forestry. Our primary focus is to plan, invest in, and manage R&D initiatives that benefit the fishing and aquaculture sector as well as the wider community. At FRDC, we foster knowledge and innovation resulting from our research and encourage its adoption for maximum impact. In addition, we coordinate efforts between the government and industry stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration. Through our dedication to research and development, FRDC contributes to the sustainability and growth of Australia's aquatic industries while ensuring the protection of aquatic ecosystems.
