## Description

The Fred Hollows Foundation is a humanitarian organization committed to ending avoidable blindness globally. Founded in memory of Fred Hollows, an inspirational eye surgeon, the foundation continues his mission to provide high-quality and affordable eye care, especially for underserved communities. Established in 1992, it operates in over 25 countries and has successfully restored sight to more than two and a half million people.

The foundation offers various services including training for healthcare professionals, distributing essential medical supplies, and performing critical eye surgeries, similar to those Hollows pioneered. It emphasizes empowering local communities by establishing local factories to produce low-cost intraocular lenses, making treatment accessible in developing countries.

Through fundraising initiatives and matched giving campaigns, the foundation mobilizes support while educating the public about the importance of eye health. With a steadfast dedication to Fred’s vision, the Fred Hollows Foundation works tirelessly to eliminate the injustice of avoidable blindness for all, regardless of their economic status.
