## Description

The Washington Parish Free Fair Association organizes an annual community fair in Franklinton, Louisiana, continuing a tradition that began in 1911. Described as the largest free fair in the United States, the event offers families and visitors days of entertainment, activities, and local attractions. The 2026 fair is scheduled for October 21–25, with the fair opening on the third Wednesday in October at 100 Main Street.

Visitors can enjoy midway rides, live music on the Main Stage, rodeo events, and the historic Mile Branch Settlement. Other attractions include Old McDonald’s Farm, a playground, the Fair Train, livestock exhibits, and a range of buildings showcasing agriculture, education, flowers, fine arts, and creative crafts. The program also features contests and community events such as a 5K, parade, and Hometown Throwdown. Food booths offer a variety of fair fare, while a country market, souvenir booth, and commercial exhibits add more to explore. The association also provides membership, prize raffle, sponsorship, donation, and souvenir opportunities, and shares information about future fair dates and event schedules.
