## Description

Free Haven Forest School is an outdoor education organization in Mokena, Illinois, dedicated to preserving childhood wonder through hands-on learning in nature. Serving children ages 3 to 14, the school offers programs during the academic year and summer, in all weather. Its approach draws on the Reggio teaching philosophy, treating the natural environment as a rich classroom and emphasizing child-led exploration alongside social and emotional development.

Programs include Forest Preschool, Forest Explorers, Survival School and Summer Camp, as well as Family Lab, Treetop Tots, Rooted: Wild Medicine, and a K–4 full-time forest school. The organization also hosts seasonal activities such as Christmas and Harvest hikes and offers a Hike-a-Thon. Its experiences encourage children to explore changing ecosystems, build practical skills, and grow their confidence and wellbeing.

Free Haven Forest School presents outdoor learning as a way to support both academic readiness and healthy development. Families can apply to programs, subscribe for news and updates, purchase gift cards or merchandise, and learn about training and nature therapy offerings.
