Free Spirit Media is a brand that empowers teens and young adults in communities of color on Chicago’s West and South sides. They offer a comprehensive foundation in media literacy and hands-on media production experience through their various programs. They provide in-school arts education, after-school and summer digital media programs, as well as advanced creative workforce development programs.

Free Spirit Media partners with young creators, ages 11-25, primarily from the West and South sides of Chicago, to develop and amplify their unique and critical voices through storytelling and media arts. Their holistic programming focuses on community-building, skill-sharing, and career and education pathways to support young people in envisioning and building their futures within the media industry and beyond. With a focus on economically emerging communities, they operate across 6 program sites and aim to reach black youth, youth of color, and youth marginalized based on other aspects of their identity.
