## Description

Freies Gymnasium Bern, known locally as the freigymer, is an academically focused, internationally minded school in Bern, Switzerland. With a 165-year history and a firm place in the canton’s educational landscape, it offers individual learning pathways from the fifth grade through the Gymnasium level. Its educational approach combines a humanist tradition and high academic standards with holistic development, while the school’s smaller, family-like community supports attention to each student’s needs.

The school offers a bilingual Matura pathway, talent development and a MINT focus, alongside a focus class and support for students with particular strengths and needs. Its stated values include mindfulness, personal responsibility, fairness, respect, engagement, enjoyment of life, self-esteem, self-efficacy and sustainability. Freies Gymnasium Bern also provides information and orientation events for prospective students and families, including an open day. Through its programs and personal approach, the school aims to help young people progress confidently toward graduation and the Matura.
