About

Description

The Fresno Center, located in Fresno, CA, has a rich history of serving the community for over three decades. Originally known for its assistance to Southeast Asian refugees, particularly Hmong refugees, the organization was founded in 1991 by Dr. Tony Vang.

Its primary goal was to support refugees in their transition to life in the United States, providing essential services such as housing, healthcare, English language training, job retraining, health education, and employment support. Under the leadership of Lue Vang and later Pao Yang, The Fresno Center has expanded its scope to meet the evolving needs of underserved communities. Today, with over 130 dedicated employees, the organization offers a wide range of culture-based services focusing on self-sufficiency, economic viability, and empowerment.

These include social support programs, mental health services, navigator services, food security initiatives, emergency response, and COVID-19 education and support. Diversity is a core value of The Fresno Center, reflected in its staff of Cultural Brokers who speak multiple languages, including Spanish, Hmong, Lao, Khmer, Hindi, Punjabi, Arabic, and English. The organization also provides expert translation and cross-cultural services, supporting other organizations and individuals in their pursuit of cross-cultural goals.

As a trusted partner of the City of Fresno and County of Fresno, The Fresno Center serves as a comprehensive center for mental health, community resources, and crisis services. By making a tax-deductible donation or volunteering, you can contribute to the vital work of The Fresno Center and help improve the lives of individuals and communities
