## Description

Friends Fort George is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the rich history of Niagara National Historic Sites, with a focus on Fort George and Brock's Monument. Located in the historic town of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Fort George served as the British Army's headquarters during the War of 1812 and played a vital role in the defence of Upper Canada. At Fort George, visitors have the opportunity to step back in time and immerse themselves in history. The site offers guided tours, musket demonstrations, special exhibits, and reconstructed buildings, allowing visitors to experience life as it was during the 19th century. The summer season also features daily demonstrations by the 41st Regiment of Foot Fife and Drum Corps and Infantry, bringing the early history of Niagara to life. The Friends of Fort George organization works in partnership with Parks Canada to generate awareness and funds through special events and the operation of gift shops. The proceeds contribute to the support of summer student employment opportunities at Fort George and Brock's Monument. The Friends of Fort George also offers a fascinating book titled Fort George: A History, published in 2022, which delves into the site's 250-year history with stunning imagery, maps, and never-before-seen photos. All proceeds from the sale of this book directly support youth employment opportunities at Fort George and Brock's Monument. Visit the Friends of Fort George Online Gift Shop to explore an array of historical books and souvenirs. They even offer FREE local delivery or pickup within Niagara-on-the-Lake. Join Friends Fort George on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest to stay updated on upcoming events and immerse yourself in the fascinating history of this iconic site.
