## Description

Friends of Interstate and Straight Lake State Parks is a nonprofit organization that supports the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources at Wisconsin Interstate and Straight Lake State Parks. Its work promotes interpretive, scientific, historical, and educational activities, along with related visitor services, helping people learn about and enjoy these public places. The organization also supports outdoor educational and recreational activities throughout the year in collaboration with community partners.

The Friends share information about the parks, their trails, and their history, including the Civilian Conservation Corps’ role in shaping Interstate Park. They organize and promote events such as guided hikes, nature programs, workshops, seasonal celebrations, and family activities. Nature Storytime and nature journaling offer opportunities for visitors to explore the outdoors and learn through hands-on experiences. Events have included candlelight hikes along the Ice Age National Scenic Trail, with activities and refreshments for participants.

Through membership, partnerships, and volunteer involvement, the organization helps connect visitors with the parks’ natural, historical, and recreational offerings.
