## Description

Friends of the Lake District is an independent charity and the sole membership organization dedicated to preserving and enhancing the remarkable landscapes of Cumbria. Founded in 1934, this dedicated group emerged to advocate for the establishment of a national park in the Lake District, achieving this goal in 1951. Today, they actively engage in numerous initiatives to safeguard the natural beauty and ecological balance of these precious environments for the benefit of visitors, local communities, wildlife, and habitats.

The organization facilitates a variety of activities, including volunteering opportunities and specialist training for individuals passionate about land conservation. They also provide educational resources such as their Annual Review and thematic publications showcasing poetry and features related to the Lake District. Friends of the Lake District actively campaigns on critical issues and raises funds through memberships, donations, and special events, making meaningful strides in the ongoing effort to protect one of the UK's most treasured landscapes. Join them to support their vital work in conserving this stunning region.
