Friluftsrådet, also known as the Outdoor Council, is a non-governmental organization that was founded in 1942. As an umbrella organization, it comprises more than 80 individual member organizations. These organizations cover a wide range of outdoor recreational activities and nature protection interests.

Friluftsrådet aims to promote outdoor recreation for both organizations and the general public while considering environmental needs and nature protection. The member organizations are all represented in the General Assembly, which serves as the highest authority of Friluftsrådet. The organization is managed by a Board and a Secretariat.

Friluftsrådet strives to protect nature and the environment to create clean and healthy surroundings for outdoor activities. It works towards greater ease of access to the countryside and production landscape through political solutions and advocates for sustainability in outdoor activities. Additionally, it promotes international cooperation and sustainable development on a global scale
