## Description

Frugibus is a small shop in Berlin-Rixdorf that turns surplus fruit and vegetables, especially produce from Berlin’s community gardens, into handmade foods. Its range includes fruit spreads, vegan vegetable spreads, cookies, fruit confectionery and other sweet treats. Flavours range from familiar fruit combinations to inventive recipes featuring ingredients such as zucchini, herbs and spices.

The spreads are made in small batches on site. Frugibus uses little sugar in its fruit spreads and does not add preservatives, conventional gelling sugar or citric acid. Its vegan spreads focus on vegetables, seasoned with herbs and spices, and are made with little salt and no glutamate. Ingredients are chosen with an emphasis on seasonal and regional produce, supplemented by goods from the surrounding area and, when needed, organic wholesalers.

Frugibus also offers free collection of excess garden produce and help with harvesting; contributors receive a product from the shop in return. Its cosy premises include an open kitchen where visitors can see food being prepared.
