## Description

The Kompetenzzentrum Barrierefreiheit Volmarstein (KBV) is an organization of the Evangelische Stiftung Volmarstein, helping people and institutions create more inclusive, accessible environments. Its interdisciplinary team advises, trains, tests, develops solutions and raises awareness in the areas of inclusion, accessibility, universal design and assistive technology. The KBV supports participation in public services, employment and everyday life, with expertise spanning digital access, buildings, mobility, housing, transport, health, communication and technical aids.

Its services include guidance on accessible workplaces and digital work environments, independent information and advice through Agentur Barrierefrei NRW, and plain-language consulting, training and translation through its Bureau for Plain Language, which works with a local workshop for people with disabilities. The KBV also provides free, qualified and independent housing-adaptation advice to residents of Wetter, Witten, Hattingen, Herdecke and Sprockhövel. Through consultations, workshops, events and practical resources, it helps organizations and individuals identify barriers and put workable solutions into practice. Its work aims to strengthen self-determination and equal participation across a range of settings.
