# Fundação Maria e Oliveira - **Website:** - **Primary alias:** `fundacaomariaeoliveira.com` ## Description The Maria e Oliveira Foundation is a social solidarity institution based in Alcobaça, Portugal, with a history of supporting older people and local families. Its origins date to 4 May 1913, when founder Maria do Carmo Eliseu e Oliveira welcomed 12 older people into her home near the Monastery of Santa Maria de Alcobaça. The institution later received official recognition and became an IPSS (Private Institution of Social Solidarity) in 1984. Today, the foundation provides residential care for older people, a day centre and home support services. It also operates O Ninho, a nursery and kindergarten, and USALCOA, the University of Alcobaça for older adults.
