## Description

Fundació Port de Sagunt is a cultural, nonprofit foundation dedicated to preserving and sharing the industrial heritage and workers’ history of Puerto de Sagunto, in the Valencian Community. Established in 1994, it operates under the oversight of the Generalitat Valenciana and is affiliated with Sagunto City Council’s public sector. Its work focuses on documenting, conserving, managing and promoting the city’s tangible and intangible industrial heritage.

The foundation manages the restored Alto Horno No. 2, a landmark blast furnace that helps visitors understand ironmaking and the experiences of the industrial workforce. Built in the early twentieth century and reconstructed in 1961, it remained in operation until 1984. Its restoration received the Europa Nostra Grand Prix in 2012, and the furnace was declared a Site of Cultural Interest in 2024. The foundation also plans an Industrial and Workers’ Memory Museum in a former 1927 factory warehouse, intended to tell the story of Puerto de Sagunto’s company town. Guided visits to the furnace offer an educational way to explore this history.
