## Description

GABA Labs is a UK-registered company developing science-led alcohol alternatives for the drinks industry. Its work explores how alcohol engages the brain’s GABA system, which is involved in regulating neural activity, relaxation and social ease. The company aims to create functional ingredients that engage this system without alcohol, offering adult social drinkers additional choices while responding to the well-established health harms of alcohol.

GABA Labs brings together research and development in neuroscience, medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, plant science, extraction, analytical chemistry and receptor testing. Its process includes investigating promising compounds, studying how they work, refining delivery, evaluating efficacy and developing scalable ingredient technologies. The company makes its ingredient platforms available to beverage manufacturers and partners through licensing and collaboration.

Sentia is a consumer drinks brand using ingredient technology licensed from GABA Labs. Its range of functional drinks is described as GABA-enhancing and is available in the UK, US and EU. GABA Labs works with established drinks businesses, emerging beverage companies and ingredient partners, and shares information about its research and the science behind functional alternatives to alcohol.
