About

Description

GALA Hispanic Theatre is a renowned National Center for Latino Performing Arts located in Washington D. C. With a history dating back to 1976, GALA aims to promote and share the richness of Hispanic arts and cultures with a diverse audience.

They create works that resonate with today's communities while preserving the Hispanic heritage for future generations. GALA develops and produces a wide range of performances that explore the breadth of Latino performing arts, providing opportunities for Latino artists and engaging the entire community in meaningful exchanges of ideas and perspectives. Founded by Argentine-born Hugo Medrano, GALA Hispanic Theatre has played a pivotal role in filling a cultural void by becoming Washington's first Spanish-speaking theater.

Since then, GALA has received numerous accolades at the local, national, and international levels for its outstanding contributions to the Hispanic arts. Located in the historic Tivoli Square, GALA continues to serve as a vibrant hub for Hispanic and Latino/a/x culture in the heart of Columbia Heights.
