## Description

Galway Hooker Sailing Club is a community-based organisation dedicated to preserving and celebrating the traditional Galway Hooker, an iconic wooden sailing vessel and an important part of the west of Ireland’s maritime heritage. Founded in 2019 after volunteers restored Lovely Anne, built in 1885, the club brings people together to restore, maintain and sail historic boats, while keeping their stories and skills alive.

The club welcomes people who want to sail, learn, help with restoration or support its work. Its activities include guided tours, sailing experiences and educational programmes, as well as accredited sailing and powerboating training. Courses and sessions include the Hooker Skills Course, Powerboat Training Course, Knot Just Sailing! and a youth programme. Members and visitors can also take part in workshops, events and community projects.

Through its fleet, restoration projects and public events, including the Docklands Festival and An Tóstal, Galway Hooker Sailing Club connects maritime craftsmanship with adventure and community.
