## Description

The Georgia Mineral Society (GMS) is the oldest and largest gem and mineral society in the Southeast. Established in 1935, GMS is a completely volunteer, non-profit organization devoted to educating the youth of the state and its members in the field of Earth Sciences. As a member of the Southeast Federation of Mineralogical Societies (SFMS), GMS actively promotes the sharing of field trips among member clubs in the Southeast through their SFMS DMC Field Trip Committee. GMS is also associated with the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies (AFMS). Membership offers a wealth of opportunities, including field trips, workshops, special events, and engagement in various interests like micromounting, fossils, gems, minerals, and sand. GMS has a dedicated group for children, offering field trips and educational experiences. With monthly meetings held at their Norcross location, GMS welcomes members, visitors, and guests to join the society and explore the fascinating world of minerals and geology.
