## Description

Gangstedfonden is a Danish commercial foundation that provides financial support through grants for research, education, culture and projects benefiting society. Established in 1984 through the merger of three earlier foundations, it is guided by a purpose that includes improving health and combating disease, supporting children and young people, and advancing cultural, academic and legal work.

Its grants support medical and other disease-related research, including selected doctoral research activities and study stays. The foundation also funds projects that promote children’s and young people’s wellbeing, education and non-competitive sporting activities, as well as relevant teaching and cultural initiatives. Further support is available for arts and culture, music, social and humanities research, legal scholarship and work considered valuable to the rule of law. Eligible activities may include publications, concerts, cultural projects and museum initiatives.

Gangstedfonden also invests in property and Danish silver, building a collection displayed at Koldinghus Museum and sometimes lent to other exhibitions. Applicants apply within the relevant funding category and round; the foundation publishes guidance and deadlines for each area.
