## Description

Gapcoin is an innovative peer-to-peer cryptocurrency launched on October 21, 2014, that leverages unique proof-of-work (PoW) mechanics centered around the search for prime gaps. As a fork of Bitcoin, Gapcoin operates on a decentralized platform, enabling anonymous global transactions independent of traditional banking systems. Unlike other cryptocurrencies, Gapcoin’s PoW function is designed to perform meaningful mathematical computations rather than merely consume electricity.

The cryptocurrency employs a dynamic mining reward system, adjusting based on block difficulty, and offers a fair launch with no premining, ensuring equity among participants. Gapcoin is not only a digital currency; it is a tool for mathematical research, contributing to the understanding of prime gaps, which are relevant to cryptography and number theory. Its community-driven approach encourages users to mine and participate in its ecosystem, with an emphasis on transparency, as source code will be made available. Engage with Gapcoin to explore a unique blend of finance and scientific inquiry.
