## Description

Gary Grant is a contemporary fine artist whose work spans abstract, figurative, and impressionistic painting. His practice draws on the influence of mid-century artists such as Franz Kline, Jackson Pollock, Willem de Kooning, Robert Motherwell, William Ivey, and the Northwest artist Okata. Grant describes his abstract approach as moving between Pollock’s energetic gestures and Rothko’s luminous color fields, while also reflecting his own non-objective work from the 1960s and 1970s.

Across his paintings, Grant uses bold forms, expansive fields of color, expressive marks, and lines to create energetic compositions with moments of rest and transition. He emphasizes the process of making an engaging statement that turns emotionally toward the positive. His work is made primarily with acrylic on canvas or board, and some pieces also incorporate enamel or ink. The online collection presents works in a range of formats and sizes, from small studies to large-scale canvases, alongside galleries and installation views.
