## Description

Gereja Batak Karo Protestan (GBKP) is a Protestant church rooted in the spread of Christianity among the Karo people of North Sumatra. Its history traces to a mission begun by Dutch missionaries from the Netherlands Missionary Society in Buluh Awar on 18 April 1890. Today, GBKP carries out church life and community service through congregations, regional classis structures and specialist ministry units.

Its activities include worship, pastoral care, spiritual formation and support for ministers, alongside programs for children, young people and families. Through the Christian Education Foundation (YPK GBKP), the church is also involved in education, including schools and early-childhood programs. Its diaconal work includes community initiatives such as waste-bank development, environmental clean-ups and agricultural composting, as well as cooperation on drug prevention. GBKP organizes training, retreats, church events and congregational data-management programs, and welcomes partnerships with other churches and organizations. Its public communications share announcements, event schedules, news and resources, reflecting an organization that combines Christian ministry, education and practical community engagement.
