## Description

The N.V. Tsitsin Main Botanical Garden of the Russian Academy of Sciences is a federal scientific institution founded in 1945 and one of Europe’s largest botanical gardens. Its protected grounds are both a federal nature conservation area and a cultural heritage site recognized for landscape architecture and garden art. The Garden combines botanical research, education, plant conservation, and public engagement.

Its extensive collections include the country’s largest assemblage of woody plants from temperate climates, tropical and subtropical plants, ornamental flowers, and natural flora. The A.K. Skvortsov Herbarium holds more than 600,000 specimens. Visitors can explore the arboretum, rose garden, lilac garden, shade garden, greenhouse collections, and the historic Japanese Garden, which opened in 1987.
