## Description

Garden City Backyard Ultra is an annual ultramarathon held at Toowoomba Showgrounds in Glenvale, Queensland, and timed to coincide with Toowoomba’s Carnival of Flowers. The event follows the backyard ultra format: runners must complete a 6.706-kilometre lap within each hour, with a new lap starting hourly. The last competitor able to continue wins. The course features varied terrain and scenery, including the Main Arena, Peter Watts Criterium Track, Wilderness Challenge trails, Theresa’s Gully and part of the Showgrounds Lake.

The event welcomes experienced and first-time ultra runners, with participation limited to 200. Registration is available at early-bird and regular rates. Entry includes race timing, a designated 3-by-3-metre area, access to aid stations and volunteer support, as well as a finisher’s trinket for anyone who completes at least one lap. Crews are welcome, and up to 100 onsite campsites are available through the showgrounds. The event website also provides videos, race results, course and event details, and recommendations for accommodation, dining and activities in Toowoomba.
