## Description

The Society of Perennial Plant Enthusiasts (Gesellschaft der Staudenfreunde e.V., or GdS) is an association for people interested in perennial plants and gardening. It connects members through regional groups across Germany and specialist groups devoted to particular plants, including dahlias, ferns, grasses, hostas, irises, lilies, and wild perennials. The society shares practical and botanical information on choosing suitable growing conditions, planning perennial beds, understanding plant forms and seasonal foliage, and selecting insect-friendly plants. Its resources also cover plant assessments, specialist nurseries, gardens, and parks.

Members and visitors can explore event listings, lectures, excursions, garden visits, open gardens, and other activities organized by the groups. The GdS also supports knowledge-sharing through its member magazine, “der Staudengarten,” books, a publication series, image galleries, and online information. Its seed exchange provides details for people donating or ordering seeds, including seed-catalogue data sheets. Membership information and an online joining option are available, alongside a webshop and links to gardening resources.
