# GEEC SQUAD - **Website:** - **Primary alias:** `geecsquad.info` ## Description GEEC SQUAD, formally the Glyncoed Entertainment Events Committee, is a volunteer-run, registered non-profit Community Interest Company serving Blaenau Gwent. Led by volunteer directors Lyn Turner and Mark Turner, the organisation creates affordable, welcoming events that bring residents together, encourage connection and self-expression, and support community wellbeing. Its programme caters to people of different ages and circumstances, including senior residents, families, children, and parents. Events include senior afternoon tea parties with bingo and live entertainment, music and quiz bingo, Prosecco and Pizza evenings, Burger and a Pint nights, and 1980s and 1990s discos. Seasonal activities range from Valentine’s family parties and Easter celebrations to Halloween events, Christmas parties, a Santa sleigh parade, and a community tree-lighting ceremony. The organisation also presents GFEST, a large community festival featuring music and children’s activities. GEEC SQUAD works to keep ticket prices low through fundraising and grants, and festival entry is free for Blaenau Gwent children under 12 when accompanied by a ticket-holding adult aged 18 or over.
