## Description

La Colla Gegantera de Vacarisses is a community group dedicated to the town’s traditional giants and popular festive figures. Founded in 1985, it began with a pair of giants inspired by the historical Viceroy Amat and his wife. The collection later grew to include the Vaca Xula, a festive figure based on Vacarisses’s emblem, and Peret Seró, a smaller giant inspired by a distinctive local character remembered for his spirited complaints and speeches from his balcony.

The group helps keep local traditions alive through public appearances and celebrations. Its figures regularly take part in Vacarisses’s Festa Major and the festival of Sant Felip Neri, as well as gatherings and festive events throughout the year. The troupe is also associated with the Baixada i Vetlla de la Vaca, a celebration held around the town’s smaller festival in late May. The event brings together a re-creation of a local legend and a communal meal.
