## Description

Norsk Slektshistorisk Forening (Norwegian Genealogical Society) is Norway’s oldest national association for genealogists, founded in 1926. It serves people who want to research their family history in depth and those interested more broadly in genealogy and historical connections. The society provides resources and information to support research, including a source portal, name register, genealogy wiki and library. Its website also features articles, news and guidance on topics such as DNA research and access to historical sources.

The association organizes events and learning opportunities, including webinars, meetings and conferences for people interested in genealogy and history. Its 2026 conference marks the society’s centenary. Members receive access to additional online resources and sources, discounts in the society’s online genealogy shop, and copies of its publications, Genealogen and Norsk Slektshistorisk Tidsskrift. The shop offers research aids and materials such as family-tree forms, ancestor charts and books on genealogy and DNA. Based in Skedsmokorset, the society brings together enthusiasts and supports their efforts to discover, document and understand family histories.
