# Genealogy Search Advice - **Website:** - **Primary alias:** `genealogy-search-advice.com` ## Description Free Genealogy Search Advice is a website that helps people research their ancestry through practical guidance and free online tools. Published by Barry & Associates, Inc., and developed by Douglas K. Barry, the site grew from the creator’s own family-history research and experience helping friends and relatives find useful records and search strategies. Its central offering is the Free Online Genealogy Search Advisor, a rule-based tool that asks what users already know about an ancestor and suggests records and research approaches to try next. The site says answers are used to generate suggestions and are not retained. It also provides guides explaining how to search for and use birth, marriage, death, census, church, naturalization, and other records, as well as passenger lists, obituaries, historical societies, and family trees. Examples accompany several guides to help users apply the advice. Additional free resources include a family-tree search tool covering ten sites, help for improving genealogy searches with Google, and decision charts for people starting their research. ## Industries - 🎸 Hobbies and Leisure - 🎸 Ancestry and Genealogy _(under Hobbies and Leisure)_ ## Logos & icons - logo _(primary)_ — PNG — [download](https://cdn.brandfetch.io/idJB361fX5/w/192/h/192/theme/dark/logo.png?c=1bxid64Mup7aczewSAYMX&t=1791379756872) ## Colors | Name | Hex | Theme | | --- | --- | --- | | San Felix | #0c770c | accent | | Blue Stone | #006666 | dark | | Portage | #8282f7 | light | ## Fonts - Arial — asset _(custom)_ - Times New Roman — asset _(custom)_ --- _Source: _ _See [/llms.txt](/llms.txt) for a full list of agent-readable pages, and [/auth.md](/auth.md) for how agents authenticate._
