## Description

Generace 00 is an educational project organized as a competition for students at secondary schools and grammar schools. Its purpose is to present young people’s authentic perspectives on the communist period and encourage them to reflect on history and its relevance today. Each year, the competition introduces a new theme to inspire research, discussion and personal responses. The 2019–2020 edition focused on the totalitarian state, inviting students to consider how democracy can decline, how authoritarian systems control public and private life, and what lessons can be drawn from the past. Generace 00 supports participants with practical information and learning resources, including competition rules, schedules, technical specifications, recommended reading, citation guidance and judging criteria. The website also features student projects, photo galleries, information for students and teachers, and an archive of earlier editions. The project is associated with the Museum of Communism in Prague and is held under the auspices of the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and the Institute of Contemporary History of the Czech Academy of Sciences.
