## Description

Genia Bioenergy is a brand that focuses on the production of biohydrogen, a renewable form of hydrogen, to contribute towards achieving climate neutrality. As part of the European Union's Strategy on Hydrogen 2020, Genia Bioenergy aims to decarbonize hydrogen production and promote its use as a replacement for fossil fuels in various sectors. Biohydrogen, derived from biogas, biomethane, and biomass, has the potential to be carbon-neutral or even carbon-negative if organic waste is used as the raw material. The production of biohydrogen not only helps in mitigating climate change but also supports the circular economy by generating by-products such as pure biogenic carbon dioxide, digestates, and biocarbon. Genia Bioenergy employs various biological processes, including dark fermentation, photofermentation, and bio-photolysis, to produce biohydrogen. These technologies offer promising results, particularly sequential fermentation processes, in terms of high production yields and waste utilization. Furthermore, biohydrogen production presents an opportunity for rural areas, enhancing energy security, and reducing reliance on imported gas. However, the commercialization of biohydrogen is still in its early stages, as regulatory frameworks need to be developed to support this innovative and sustainable product.
