## Description

GeoERA is a collaborative initiative designed to establish the European Geological Surveys Research Area, promoting sustainable management of subsurface resources essential for modern life. Supported by 33 national and 15 regional geological survey organizations from across Europe, GeoERA aims to enhance economic growth while safeguarding the environment. The program addresses pressing challenges related to geo-energy, groundwater, and raw materials through funding for 15 transnational research projects, focusing on the integration and efficient management of these vital resources.

By fostering a common European geological knowledge base, GeoERA provides critical insights and data to policymakers, industries, and stakeholders, facilitating evidence-based decision-making. Its projects seek to harmonize methodologies for assessing geo-energy, groundwater, and mineral resources, ultimately promoting responsible exploitation while minimizing environmental impacts. The funding structure includes a mix of contributions from consortium members and the European Commission. With a total budget of €30.3 million, GeoERA represents a major step towards a more sustainable and economically viable future, aligning scientific research with the needs of society.
