## Description

The George Wright Society (GWS), established in 1980, is dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of parks and protected areas, rooted in the legacy of conservationist George Meléndez Wright. The organization fosters collaboration among an interdisciplinary network of researchers, managers, Indigenous communities, educators, and students to promote informed decision-making in cultural and natural resource management.

GWS engages its members and the public through a variety of programs and initiatives, including webinars, workshops, and events focused on park stewardship and biosphere regions. They actively support Indigenous involvement and provide resources such as the Park Stewardship Forum and the George Wright Forum. Through strategic directions focused on integrity, respect, and collaboration, the Society aims to address significant conservation challenges while honoring the values inspired by its namesake. By uniting diverse communities passionate about protecting natural and cultural heritage, GWS plays an essential role in advancing sustainable stewardship practices for current and future generations.
