About

Description

Georgia Writers Association (GWA) is a nonprofit organization that was founded in 1994 with the aim of connecting and highlighting writers. Led by renowned poet Geri Taran, prize-winning author Anthony β€œTony” Grooms, and literary agent Susan L Graham, GWA offers a range of programs and resources to support writers at all stages of their careers. GWA organizes workshops and events to foster growth and development within the writing community.

They are committed to promoting diverse authors and stories, providing opportunities and resources for writers across Georgia. Some of their programs include the Georgia Author of the Year Awards, which celebrates the best literature by Georgia writers, and the Red Clay Writers Conference, which offers networking and learning opportunities for writing professionals. GWA also offers grants to Black writers through the John Lewis Writing Grants, and a scholarship to participate in a week-long workshop in Provincetown, Massachusetts.

With a strong belief in the power of community, GWA brings together writers from all backgrounds to support and uplift one another. To be a part of this vibrant literary community, you can become a member and enjoy benefits such as free monthly workshops, a complimentary substack subscription, and discounts. Professional writers can also join the Georgia Writers Registry.
