## Description

The Geological Society of India (GSI) is a distinguished organization founded in 1958, dedicated to the exploration and research of geology within India. Established by Professor L. Rama Rao and his peers, the society aims to enhance scientific inquiry and raise public awareness about Earth Systems Science, an interdisciplinary field examining the Earth's physical, chemical, biological, and human interactions. GSI actively promotes professional development and excellence through various activities, including conferences, workshops, lectures, and field trips, catering to both its members and the general public.

Additionally, the society publishes an array of materials, such as conference proceedings, lecture notes, and popular science publications to disseminate knowledge. It also recognizes remarkable contributions to the field through various awards and endowment lectures. GSI collaborates with national and international organizations, fostering a community that welcomes anyone interested in Earth processes. As a registered society under the Societies Registration Act, GSI is committed to advancing geological science and education in India.
