## Description

The Gerber Institute for Catholic Studies is an institute associated with Newman University in Wichita, Kansas. It promotes engagement with Catholic scholarship, tradition, and contemporary questions through educational opportunities, grants, events, and community programming. Its work connects students, faculty, staff, and the wider community with topics spanning faith, healthcare, social work, the arts, and reconciliation.

The Institute offers fellowships and grants that support student learning and projects, including study and service opportunities. It recognizes academic achievement through the Bishop Gerber Award for Excellence in Catholic Scholarship, presented to undergraduate and graduate students, and supports faculty fellows. Its events have included lectures, Lunch and Learn sessions, prayer gatherings, art exhibits, and celebrations of Catholic figures and traditions. Programs and discussions have also explored Catholic approaches to therapeutic practice, healthcare, and human trafficking.

Through these initiatives, the Gerber Institute provides ways for the Newman community to explore Catholic perspectives in academic and practical settings.
