## Description

Gert the SEE Turtle is a children’s picture-book series created by author and illustrator Maxine Moody Poston. Inspired by the natural beauty of South Carolina’s coast and a respect for sea turtles, the books follow Gert, a curious young loggerhead who explores beaches and ocean life while discovering the world around her. The series combines coastal adventures, gentle humor, lovable characters, and original artwork to introduce young readers to early learning and encourage curiosity about nature. Its titles include Gert the SEE Turtle in: Counting, which builds number skills through encounters with seaside animals; Colors, Colors, Everywhere, which explores colors in coastal settings; and Emotions at the Ocean, which introduces feelings such as happiness, fear, gratefulness, and forgiveness while supporting emotional awareness and empathy. The name SEE represents Science, Education, and Exploration, themes that guide Gert’s adventures and invite children to ask questions and learn. The series has received recognition from the National Indie Excellence Awards and the Purple Dragonfly and Royal Dragonfly Book Awards.
