## Description

The Geschichtsverein Buchschlag e.V. is a volunteer-run local history association founded in 2008 to preserve the cultural heritage of Buchschlag and encourage interest in the community’s history, from the founding of its villa colony in 1904 to the present day. Based in Dreieich, Germany, the association collects and safeguards documents and materials in its local history archive, which is also being developed digitally and is open to visitors on Tuesdays. It organizes guided tours of Buchschlag’s historic center and shares local stories through talks, events, and a printed guide to a walking route featuring 20 points of interest. Each June, the association stages “Offene Gärten Buchschlag,” a non-commercial garden festival in which private gardens host concerts, readings, art exhibitions, and other activities. Its preservation work also includes supporting the protection of historic buildings and helping retain Straßheim-Platz, with its Schneckenbrunnen fountain, as a community green space. The association welcomes public interest and support through participation, membership, and donations.
