## Description

The Gloucestershire Family History Society (GFHS) is a vibrant community of over 1,000 family history enthusiasts rooted in Gloucester and extending internationally. Established in 1979, the society proudly operates one of the UK’s premier Family History Centres, offering members a wealth of resources and opportunities for engagement. With regular online talks featuring diverse speakers, and collaborative events with regional partners like the Gloucestershire Archive, GFHS fosters an interactive and supportive environment for genealogy research.

The society's membership benefits include access to a quarterly Journal, rich in articles and news, as well as a dedicated Members Interests Page where individuals can connect with others researching similar surnames. GFHS is particularly noted for its extensive projects, including the free-to-view Births, Marriages, and Deaths (BMD) records and Cemetery Register transcriptions, essential tools for family historians. Whether you are a seasoned researcher or just beginning your journey, the society welcomes individuals to join and actively participate in enriching their genealogical experiences.
