The Global Forum for Media Development (GFMD) is the largest global community dedicated to media development, media freedom, and journalism support. With a network of 139 member organizations and numerous partners, GFMD works collaboratively to create, promote, and deliver policies and programs that sustain journalism as a public good. One of the key ways GFMD supports its members is by curating an up-to-date, searchable list of funding opportunities worldwide, and providing fundraising guidance through multilingual resources, events, and mentoring. GFMD also advocates for increased funding to media development and journalism support and provides guidance to donors on effective funding strategies. Additionally, GFMD's International Media Policy and Advisory Centre—GFMD IMPACT—convenes media support actors, conducts research, produces policy papers, and shares knowledge to advance best practices in media development. GFMD envisions a world where democracy, human rights, and sustainable development benefit from a vibrant and informed public sphere supported by free, independent, and viable public-interest media and journalism. Through its unique position, GFMD brings together all major actors in media development to address common challenges and priorities. Joining GFMD provides members with opportunities for collaboration, coordination, and partnership building.
