Description

The Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art is Augusta's premier nonprofit visual arts school and contemporary art gallery. Established in 1937 and located in the historic Nicholas Ware mansion, the institute offers a wide range of services and programs. As a showcase for regional, national, and international artists, they host rotating exhibitions of outstanding contemporary artwork throughout the year.


The institute also provides studio art classes for individuals of all ages and experience levels. Taught by professionals, these classes cover a variety of mediums, allowing students to develop their artistic skills and express their creativity. The mission of the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art is to foster visual arts education and cultivate art awareness and appreciation in the Augusta community.
