## Description

**Project: Reducing Marine Plastic Waste in Vietnam**

The "Reducing Marine Plastic Waste" project in Vietnam, running from October 2019 to September 2024, aims to tackle the critical issue of marine plastic pollution. Funded by WWF Germany, with support from the Vietnamese Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the project focuses on enhancing waste management practices and raising awareness regarding plastic waste at both central and local levels.

Through targeted communications, capacity-building activities, and the development of policies such as Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), the initiative aspires to cultivate behavioral changes among communities. The project also involves establishing pilot models across seven cities to significantly reduce plastic waste.

Key efforts are directed towards protecting vital marine conservation areas, including Phu Quoc and Cu Lao Cham, by effectively managing and decreasing the accumulation of plastic debris. By promoting sustainable practices and engaging local stakeholders, this project is positioned as a crucial component in Vietnam's national action plan for marine plastic waste management, aiming for significant impact by 2030.
